Karen Grassle, born in 1942 as Karen Trust Grassle, began performing on the school stage when she was a teenager. She made her play debut Lanford Wilson in Broadway in 1968. Grassle is best known for her character as Caroline Ingalls in the NBC television series Little House on the Prairie. In the show, she played the role of the wife of Michael Landon’s character and the mother of Melissa Sue Anderon and Melissa Gilbert’s roles.

She also appeared in the film Gunsmoke, Harry’s War, Wyatt Earp and so on. Although she was busy in her acting career when she was young, she managed to get BA degrees both in English and in Dramatic Art in 1965. She also got a Fulbright Fellowship to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in London. Aside from that, she also became an apprentice at the Actor’s Workshop of San Francisco from 1961 to 1962.
