CHRISTY TURLINGTON BURNS
Born in Walnut Creek, California, to Dwain Turlington, a pilot, and María Elizabeth, a flight attendant, Christy Turlington began her modeling career in high school. She was discovered by a local photographer in Miami, Florida, where her father worked as a training captain. Upon turning 18 years old, she decided to make opportunities for herself by moving to New York to work as a full-time model.
Turlington has appeared on more than 500 magazine covers, in countless advertising campaigns for high-end fashion brands, and was also featured in music videos and professional photo books. In the 2000s, she made investments in various business ventures, including a skincare line, two clothing lines by Puma, and a women’s yoga-wear line. She briefly worked as a guest correspondent on NBC’s Today Show in the early 2000s and has since shifted her focus to humanitarian activities, founding the non-profit organization Every Mother Counts.
