SHELLEY LONG
Shelley Long, whose full name is Shelley Lee Long, was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1949. Shelley Long’s first job was as a meal plan checker. After resigning from this job, she started her acting career, appearing in comedy Troupes and some commercials. With her exceptional talent as a comedian and an actress, Shelley Long received five Emmy Awards nominations when she did the hit sitcom Cheers. She even won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a comedy series in 1983 and got two Golden Globe Awards for playing the role of Diane Chambers.
When she reprised her role in the spinoff series, Frasier, Long once again got a guest star Emmy Awards nomination. That’s how great of an actress Long is, no wonder she secured a part in the ABC comedy series Modern Family. Sadly, she wasn’t able to finish her degree when she had to leave Northwestern University to pursue a career in acting and modeling.
