Peter Ostrum’s only project in Hollywood was when he portrayed the titular character of Charlie in the 1971 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film. After he returned home from shooting the film, his family acquired a horse and he became interested in them. He was also hugely influenced by the veterinarian that tended to the animal. He then decided to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He’s now working in New York and in 2019, he became a managing partner with Dairy Health & Management Services.
