At present, Oprah Winfrey is one of the biggest names in the media industry. She is a television producer, a talk show host, an author, and a philanthropist on top of it all. Her success didn’t come instantly, however. In fact, before she became the wealthiest African American of the 20th century, Oprah went through poverty. Despite being raised by a teenage mother in rural Mississippi, Oprah persevered to achieve a life of luxury and influence.

At just 19 years old, she became a co-anchor for the local evening news in Tennessee. Even back then, her manner and delivery helped her receive credit. However, who would’ve thought that one day she’d end up with her own talk show? Let alone an entire media empire? Well, Oprah certainly did. She currently hosts The Oprah Conversation, where she discusses impactful subjects with many of the world’s leading thought leaders.
