Angelina Jolie was born into a family of Hollywood celebrities. She grew up in a privileged environment and decided to pursue a career in acting. With her good looks and talent, she then went on to have a successful career. Jolie is a recipient of multiple prestigious accolades, including three Golden Globes and an Academy Award. In 2001, Jolie experienced a turning point in her life. While filming the movie Tomb Raider, she witnessed first-hand the hardships and troubles of a war-torn country like what Cambodia faces.

She then got in touch with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, or UNHCR, to learn about the special circumstances war-torn countries experience. Jolie would then start a new chapter in her life and embark on Humanitarian missions across the world to help war refugees. In the next decade, since she started her journey with the UNHCR, she participated in more than 40 field missions to over 30 countries. To her credit, in 2012, UNHCR named her Special Envoy to the High Commissioner.
