Remember her? In 1991, Salma Hayek moved to Hollywood to engage in film acting. In 2002, her character in the film Frida was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, which became a turning point in her acting career. This movie was co-producted by Hayek and also achieved commercial success. Salma Hayek established her own film company around 2000. The first Mexican film she produced was El Coronel No Tiene Quien Le Escriba, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in that year.
The TV series Ugly Betty, with Hayek as the executive producer, was broadcast worldwide from 2006 to 2010. In the drama, Hayek played a guest star as Sofia, a fashion magazine editor. Not only did this TV series won the 2007 Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy Series, Hayek’s guest role won her a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series at the 59th Primetime Emmy Award. Hayek is still active in the film industry. She will play Ajak in The Eternals, a Marvel Cinematic Universe film directed by Chloé Zhao.
