The expertise of someone who is able to install, maintain and repair something is highly regarded. This is also the case for an elevator repair and installation technician. You will be trained for the job so that means you will only need a high school diploma or its equivalent to be considered for a position. The job includes mounting, fixing and maintaining lifts such as elevators, escalators and other similar equipment.

This work requires the ability of troubleshooting based on a wealth of knowledge of electronics, hydraulics and electricity. All of the required skills will be learned through an apprenticeship program. As you may have noticed by now, specific skills are not often taught in schools. So getting a degree is not necessarily the best course to take.
