DENZEL WASHINGTON
Denzel Washington is a multi-award-winning whose accolades include two Academy Awards and three Golden Globes. He rose to prominence in his portrayals of real-life cultural figures, with his roles in movies such as Malcolm X, Cry for Freedom, The Hurricane, American Gangster, Remember the Titans, and The Great Debaters. He first gained worldwide acclaim with his 2001 movie, Training Day, which remains to be a modern classic to date.
Denzel was born in New York to a financially-challenged family. By the age of 14, he was sent to a private preparatory school, which was an experience that Denzel would later be thankful for. He would later share that entering that school was the beginning of the turning point of his life. Denzel later graduated from Fordham University in 1977 with a degree in Drama and Journalism. From there, he embarked on his prolific career, appearing in theater plays before making the transition to feature films.
