Originally born as Reginald Kenneth Dwight, Elton John is an English singer-songwriter, composer, and pianist. He charted nine number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, some of which are Candle In the Wind and That’s What Friends Are For, led by Dionne Warwick.

However, in 1976, after his song Don’t Go Breaking My Heart topped most of the charts, John decided to take a hiatus in the music industry and give more attention to a soccer team he co-owned in England. This was also the time where he revealed that he was part of the LGBTQ community. In fact, John has been in a civil partnership with David Furnish since 2005 and eventually tied the knot in 2014. While the cases of AIDS among LGBT continue to rise, John’s salaries from privately booked events were donated to his Elton John AIDS Foundation.
